Michael Julian
Michael Julian is the creator of the ALIVE active shooter survival training program and a 30-year veteran of the private security industry. As President and CEO of MPS Security and Protection, he has led executive protection details, workplace violence prevention engagements, behavioral threat assessment teams, and active shooter response training for clients across the United States – corporations, school districts, hospital systems, government agencies, places of worship, and high-net-worth families.
Michael built the five-step ALIVE method (Assess, Leave, Impede, Violence, Expose) after studying after-action reports from every major active shooter incident in the U.S. The pattern was clear: civilians needed a simple, decisive framework they could actually execute under extreme stress. Today the ALIVE program is delivered nationwide as online active shooter training courses, in-person active shooter survival training, and through a network of certified instructors.
Michael is regularly featured on FOX News, KCAL CBS, KUSI News, and industry outlets such as EP Wired commenting on active shooter response, workplace violence prevention, executive protection, and behavioral threat assessment. He is the author of the Amazon bestseller 10 Minutes to Live: Surviving an Active Shooter Using A.L.I.V.E.
Listen to Dominic Bowen and Michael Julian unpack workplace violence preparedness, behavioural warning signs, and the growing security challenges facing organisations today, and read more about the psychology of crisis response, active threat training, and organisational resilience.
