Abby Stoddard

Abby Stoddard is a humanitarian policy analyst and a founding partner of Humanitarian Outcomes, where she conducts research and provides analysis and advice to governments and international aid agencies. She began her career working in NGOs, including as Program Director for Médecins du Monde/Doctors of the World USA. At Humanitarian Outcomes she has designed and led independent research programmes and created unique data assets, including the Aid Worker Security Database and the Global Database of Humanitarian Organisations. She is the author of two books and numerous articles and published reports on humanitarian action and the international aid architecture. Her latest book is Necessary Risks: Professional Humanitarianism and Violence Against Aid Workers, exploring the role of humanitarian action in war and the causes and consequences of attacks on civilian aid operations.
