Hamish McRae is an economic commentator for the Independent and writes weekly columns on economics and finance in the Mail on Sunday and the i newspaper. He has been financial editor of Guardian and the Independent and has won numerous awards, including Business and Finance Journalist of the Year at the British Press Awards.

His most recent book, The World in 2050, How to Think about the Future, was described by the Economist as thoughtful and sensible.
