With his extensive background in academia, journalism, and politics, Dr. Stepanenko brings a wealth of knowledge to our discussion. He has provided written evidence for the UK Defence Inquiry on the implications of the war in Ukraine and has contributed valuable insights to the UK Foreign Affairs committee on critical issues such as the Wagner Group.

As a research fellow at The Henry Jackson Society, Dr. Stepanenko focused on post-Soviet states and defence matters, authoring numerous policy briefs on defence procurement and British engagement in Eastern Europe and the Pacific. His expertise extends to the media realm, where he serves as a correspondent for the Kyiv Post and regularly contributes to major news outlets including the Daily Express and Jerusalem Post.

Dr. Stepanenko’s unique perspective is further enhanced by his practical experience in politics, having co-founded the Conservative Friends of Ukraine and served on the Belarusian opposition’s Coordination Council. His multifaceted background makes him ideally suited to discuss the complex interplay between social unrest, disinformation campaigns, and international relations.
