Waqar Rizvi
Waqar Rizvi is a Canadian-Pakistani journalist, strategic consultant, and media expert with over 17 years of global experience in geopolitical analysis, AI ethics, and media research. He holds a Master’s degree in Media Ethics from the University of Sussex, combining academic rigour with hands-on expertise in journalism, policy consulting, and digital media.
Currently, Rizvi leads fact-checking initiatives to combat misinformation and provides strategic media insights across various industries, including healthcare and technology. He conducts in-depth policy analysis on socio-political landscapes, with a particular focus on the Middle East and South Asia.
Rizvi’s expertise spans strategic policy and geopolitical analysis, AI ethics and fact-checking, media research and communications, and public speaking and broadcasting. He has extensive experience in live broadcasting and public discourse on foreign policy and global affairs.
His international background includes work in Canada, the UAE, Iran, and Pakistan. Rizvi is fluent in English, Persian, and Urdu, with working proficiency in French. This linguistic versatility enhances his ability to analyze and communicate complex global issues.
As a Global Policy Consultant for Sastre Consulting, Rizvi conducts comprehensive research on health policies and illicit trade environments, focusing on major cities and countries within the Middle East and other global regions. He has contributed to projects such as the Rural Sector Performance Assessment (RSPA) and the Global Illicit Trade Environment Index, evaluating pro-poor rural development policies and national regulatory environments.
In his role as a Global Communications Consultant for the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, Rizvi designs and leads panel discussions on contemporary global affairs and international relations. He has moderated discussions on topics ranging from labour mobility in South Asia to human rights issues in Pakistan and environmental challenges related to climate change.
